John Reynolds - Concrete Specialist and Hardscape Artist

Concrete Chameleon is owned and operated by John and Julie Reynolds. We have a passion for topical, decorative systems for existing concrete. In 1996, we started CTI Central Illinois, a company that specialized in thin, concrete resurfacing products. We developed this company and focused on sprayed applications of acrylic concrete products. We expanded to stampable overlays, stains, clear and colored epoxies, color flake epoxy floors and more. In 1999, we purchased Border Magic of Springfield and began installing concrete landscape edging. The company continued to evolve and we began installing small concrete pads and small stamped concrete slabs. Residential and small commercial applications were the main focus of our companies.

In early 2006 we sold the business and I (John) went to work for Solomon Colors. Solomon Colors, based in Springfield, is a manufacturer of iron oxide pigments for cement based products. They also manufacture a number of products for the decorative concrete industry. My job was to help develop the decorative side of the business through product development, technical support, training, and education. I conducted training programs all over the country teaching people how to install the products I once installed myself. I also demonstrated product applications at the World of Concrete and gave talks on surface preparation and acid staining at the Concrete Décor Show.

After 12 years at Solomon, I decided it was time to get back into contracting. Armed with knowledge gained from many of the best decorative concrete installers in the industry and a much more thorough understanding of how the products work, my focus will be on high quality applications of high quality products.
